Announcements: Photos of the Shoot-a-thon Fund Raiser are here! Varsity made a gallant effort this evening, May 18th, in the Semifinal game versus number 1 seed La Costa Canyon on LCC's home field, but ultimately the Mavericks finished ahead 14-4. The Falcons' goals were by Tori, Katie H., Claire, and Becky. Woohoo! Varsity Falcons beat La Jolla 12-7 in the Quarterfinals! The varsity Falcons came out with confidence and were ready to play, and scored first. At halftime it was tied 5-5. The Falcons were first to score in the second half and pulled ahead 6-5. The score seemed to stabilize at 9-7 toward the end of the half, but in the Vikings' attempts to re-gain control of the ball, the Falcons scored 3 more times, bringing the final score up to 12-7. Goals were by Claire (5), Becky (3), Katie H (2), Sofia, and Tori. This fantastic win moves the Falcons on to the Semifinals where they will battle LCC on Thursday, May 18, at 5:00pm. Varsity Falcons won their first round game in the CIF playoffs beating Bishop's 14-5 this afternoon, Saturday, May 13th, earning them a spot in the Quarterfinal bracket. If we win on Saturday then our next most likely game is at La Jolla on Tuesday, May 16th, at either 5pm or 7pm. Varsity celebrated a solid 13-3 victory over the Carlsbad Panthers this Wednesday evening, May 10th at the Panthers' home field. High scorers were Claire and Becky with three goals each! JV suffered a surprise 6-7 upset in sharp contrast to their runaway victory over the JV Panthers at home last week. Congratulations to Varsity and JV for their victories on Tuesday evening, May 9th, over the Westview Wolverines in Falcon Stadium. Both Falcon teams came away with solid wins. Varsity was up 10-0 at the half and finished 16-2, and JV finished 12-4. Varsity seniors Audrey, Claire, Kadie, and Katie H were featured in a Senior Day celebration prior to the Varsity game. Congratulations JV! JV beat LCC! On this Cinco de Mayo Friday, JV and Varsity played in the reverse of the usual order, with JV starting at 7pm. The Mavericks came out quickly and scored first, then the JV Falcons immediately answered back with two goals, but by the end of the first half, JV was trailing 3-6. The JV Falcons made a strong come-back in the second period to defeat the Mavericks, 9-8!! Varsity played well, and were down by only 4 goals at the half, but ultimately the Varsity Mavericks finished ahead, 13-6. JV finally had their chance to play the RB Broncos on Thursday, April 27th. The previously scheduled game was cancelled due to rain, but this didn't dampen the JV Falcons' spirits as they proved they were ready to play, winning 9-8. Varsity celebrated their 5th straight win this evening, May 2nd, at home beating the Carlsbad Panthers 11-5. JV started off the evening by claiming their own 5-win streak with an 11-4 win. Varsity caged the Valley Center Jaguars 14-3 on Saturday afternoon, April 29th, in Falcon Stadium. The Falcons easily made the transition from rummage sale duty early in the morning and were ready to play their game in the afternoon. Varsity and JV each celebrated a win this evening, April 28th, versus Westview in Wolverine Stadium. Varsity scored about 9 goals in the first half and finished with a 14-2 victory. JV also dominated their game winning 11-4. Congratulations to Varsity and JV for their victories versus Mt. Carmel in Falcon Stadium on Tuesday, April 25th. Varsity finished 12-2 and JV shut out the Sundevils 8-0. Many of our players had the opportunity to try some different positions. Varsity and JV were victorious on Bishop's own Spanos Field on Saturday, April 22nd. Varsity won 9-7 with four of the goals by Alexa (2) and Chelsea Buser (2). The JV Falcons rusted the Knights' armor with a 15-6 victory. Both Falcon teams played the day before on Friday, April 21st, at La Costa Canyon, but the Mavericks finished ahead in both contests 11-4 (varsity) and 9-4 (JV). JV sunk the La Jolla Vikings 15-5 in Falcon Stadium on their first game after coming back from Spring break on Wednesday, April 19th. Varsity was less fortunate, finishing with six goals to the Vikings' fourteen. Varsity celebrated a 9-5 victory over Tamilpais/Mill Valley in Falcon Stadium over Spring break on Tuesday, April 11th. We actually had more JV players than Varsity players. Congratulations to Varsity and JV for their victories versus England (Wycombe) on Friday, April 7th. Varsity finished 10-5 and JV 7-6. Games were cancelled Tuesday night, April 4th, due to rain. We heard that only JV played part of their game before the games were cancelled. Congratulations Varsity for their solid 10-5 victory in Falcon Stadium versus San Dieguito Academy this Monday, April 3rd. The JV Falcons coralled the Mustangs 10-2, leaving no doubt about which team dominated the game. JV Parents, we need:
Varsity had a tough game against Coronado this Saturday afternoon, April 1st. The Falcons scored three goals, by Becky Trees (2) and Kate Holland (1), versus the Islanders' fifteen. Congratulations Varsity for coming from behind to pull out a 10-8 victory vs. Fallbrook on a rainy Tuesday evening. There were goals by many team members. Varsity did very well against some excellent teams
at the Surf Sun & Stix 2006 tournament this Saturday, March 18th, and
advanced to the Quarterfinals.
Congratulations Varsity for their solid 10-5 victory over the Rancho Bernardo Broncos Friday evening, March 17th. JV started their game but it was stopped due to intense rain. Congratulations JV for winning their first home game 6-5 on Tuesday, March 14th, versus the Poway Titans in our own Falcon Stadium. Following the JV game, Varsity started off strong staying even with the Titans at 3 goals each late in the first half, but ultimately finished with a 3-9 loss.
